We visited with our 18 and 11 year old children. This park is mainly for coaster lovers as they make up most of the rides, and don't disappoint! That said the park also has a few fantastic water rides and a mix of smaller traditional ones. We opted for a FastPass for the coasters and were glad we did, even on a term time weekday the queues were over an hour for most of the day, even with the FastPass we queued for 10-15 minutes per ride. The water rides were quiet initially but within an hour of opening had queue times of 45 minutes plus, and by early afternoon hit 60 minutes plus. Without a FastPass you'll need 2 days to do all the rides, with a coaster only pass it's just about possible to do the whole park in one day, an 'all ride' FastPass would be advisable if you don't want to feel too pushed for time. Staff were generally very good, although some younger ones were clearly just going through the motions and seemed like they would rather be somewhere else. The only real disappointment was the lack of food at closing time; we assumed the food vendors would stay open after the rides closed for a short while so we could grab some food on the way out... not the case. In the end we had to settle for sandwiches from Costa at the entrance as other vendors closed before or at 5 pm. Dozens of people were trying to get food and we got talking to others who were surprised everything closed so early. The park is clearly missing out on a ton of revenue by doing this. Collapse
Great time, highly recommended

This was our first family visit to Thorpe Park, easy to get there and plenty of parking near the entrance. There were plenty of rides for all the family, various roller coasters and water rides plus less frantic rides, all great fun. We took a picnic with us and no problems getting through the security check so long as it is all wrapped. Most of the queues took less than the suggested waiting time which was good and I don't think we queued longer than 30 mins on any ride. I would definitely recommend this place, we downloaded the app which was good for wait times and directions but should have got a paper map at the entrance just to navigate our way around, we did eventually get a map from one of the shops. I came with my dad and brother: we used TESCO Clubcard points for two of the tickets, and I got a third through Student Beans…so if you’re a student, look out for that discount! It pays to book in advance: not only did we save, but there was no need to join the initial queue for tickets. Having read about the scandalous parking charge and ridiculous queues to get out of the car park, I took another Trip Advisor user’s advice and we parked on Norlands Lane (TW20 8SS) for free. It’s about a ten-minute walk from there. If you’re reading this- thanks so much! It took about twenty minutes to get through the security bag check, which was as predictably pointless as most other venues. Someone dipped a quick hand into my bag, overlooking two other pockets. Although it was a hot Saturday in June, we went on about 11 rides and managed to do everything we wanted to once. Highlights included Saw, Colossus and Stealth. I was weirdly underwhelmed by Swarm and the Rumba Rapids was a bit of a waste of time. Since nobody on here rates Derren Brown’s Ghost Train, we gave it a miss. The Walking Dead roller-coaster is fun, but the zombie models could be a lot more realistic. I think the longest we queued for a ride was forty minutes. I would recommend starting in the corner of the park where Saw is, doing those rides first and then taking it from there. The app was mostly reliable to keep us up to date with queue times. I was really impressed by the staff working hard to get visitors on and off the rides as quickly as possible to minimise wait times- I hope this comment gets passed onto them because it was noticed and appreciated! We ate at the KFC, which was busy even though we had a slightly later lunch. Overall, we had a brilliant day out. This is definitely a theme park better suited to the adrenaline-junkies rather than families with young children, which was perfect for us Collapse

Me and my partner decided to have a day out at Thorpe park. Bag check went quick and straight through the turnstiles. Staff seem to be miserable at the front and like they didn't want to be there. Nemesis inferno was great and the queue was quick as it said 60 mins but we only queued for 40 mins which was a bonus. Rumba Rapids was ok needs some TLC as I noticed paint was flaking off and hadn't been cleaned for a while. Like I say staff just really dont want to be there not even a smile or a hello which really let's the day down when the staff looks so unhappy. Went on swarm after this which is an awesome coaster and even more of a bonus was the queue time was less than what it said on the app. I find though there isn't much organisation with people going into the bays for the ride. Once on the ride waiting for the safety check of the restraint the member of staff that checked mine just touched the restraint and didn't even make sure it was secure unlike the other times I'd been on there. KFC the self check out machine were a bit of freefall to be honest and people were cutting in left right and centre so in the end me and partner did the same as we were fed up. Food was hot and very good but pricey compared to when you have KFC outside of the park, I dont understand why as it is the same company and you were getting the same meal. The afternoon was ok, busy but we did notice lots of coaches when we pulled into the park. The bouncezilla looked awesome and I think it is a great addition and the staff were engaging and entertaining which was nice to see as before this point all the other staff seemed as they didn't want to be there. All in all was an ok day and we didn't have to queue for too long, the longest queue was about an hour for nemesis but it could of been sooner if the staff were putting people through the queue barrier quicker, even when the section was clear we still hadn't moved until a while after. The ratio between letting the fast track through and normal queue were good. I hope in the future they get a new ride at Thorpe park or if not get some upgrades to the ones they have as I feel this park as been let go a little bit and needs some TLC massively. The swarm area is the best part as it has better theming compared to the rest of the park. Collapse
Not worth it!!

Firstly let me start by saying this was booked for my fiances 30th Birthday and this is the reason I am most unhappy as this is for a special occassion. I have listed the things in order of what has made me unhappy and am hoping I get a response to my satifisfaction. 1. I paid £180 for 2 fast pass tickets due to your site claiming that this was in fact a peak day and would be busy (both of these are false). After trekking through the whole park, and enduring 4 different types of weather, following the great instructions we were given from very helpful (but clearly not very well trained) staff we eventually ended up at the very well hidden fast track hut after 45 minutes. After feeling like someone from lord of the rings we were finally in posession of our 'precious' fast track wristbands after queing for 20 mins (maybe a fast track to get fast teacks would be a good idea, this would allow the commercial machine to charge for infinity fast passes). I feel we had no advantage as we were put into the queue for Derren Brown and Swarm at the same point as non fast pass customers. Now I know all customers are equal but surely not when youve paid nearly £200 to rule over peasents in the 'better queue' 2. The Derren Brown Ghost Train seemed like a good idea however there were multiple headsets not working, so had to keep switching seats and couldnt sit next to each other (if i wanted this we couldve stayed home on our seperate sofas) and on the second half of the ride my sound and vision didnt work in my headset so I dont have a clue what was going on and there is no way I was going to queue over an hour (again) to find out. I might as well have caught up on the sleep I need, with this being the first time away from the kids in nearly 2 years and had a vivid dream. This would have been more enjoyable. 3. Burger King had no mayo, you would of thought I was asking for wild truffle sauce with caviar the way they looked at me. 4. Some of the rides claim to be able to fit chests of 48 inches but unfortunately they dont live up to the expectation, leading to someone having to ride alone on some rides. I know im carrying a little weight but Im not an elephant. 5. Upon arriving to the hotel we were told dinner wasnt included in our package. I had to then email the voucher to them and was rushed into the restaraunt quicker than an episode of crystal maze. 6. Restaraunt staff had no idea that we were on a dinner package even though we explained 4 times. Eventually via a few secret handshakes we were initiated into the secret world of the correct set menu. 7. No drinks prices were explained (£7.20 for a gin and tonic is quite frankly ridiculous) however this is what I wanted and it was rather nice even if they clearly went and grew, picked and crushed the strawberries them selves to make it, alternatively they could of just been chatting and allowing it to go flat out of spite. 8. After the starter no food was cleared so I ended up eating a curry over my starter plate, and dont get me started about how I had to eat my brownie lets just say it was a balancing act. I might write into Britains got talent as it was seriously incredible. Its not like the staff had 40 odd minutes between courses to be able to clear the food. Just FYI there was about 10.5 people in there (the .5 was a child who I dont think was eating but I didnt ask or was interested in his story) 9. One positive the room is ok even if the bed is more of a 1.5 than a double, clearly due to the points above im not the smallest of people I can see the night ending with one of us on the floor.
