We went to Cadbury world yesterday after wanting to visit it since I was a young girl. (I am now in my 50s). What a disappointment. All them years of imagining what it would be like inside were shattered! A group of us were taken into a kind of little theatre where a head on a wall and two computer figures gave us an underwhelming presentation. My grandson was already asking if we could go. Then we were told to go to another room where again a character on a screen gave us another talk. This time the seats shook every so often. Then we went upstairs and walked on a long corridor to a room where you could draw on a table with melted chocolate. We then went down another corridor to see a football cup. Then another corridor to get the kids face painted if we wanted to wait 30 minutes with a 2 year old and a four year old. We decided not to wait but to go to a ride you could go on. That was down another corridor and a 45 minute wait. So we didn’t do that. As we went down some steps to another corridor the grandchildren were more deflated and just wanted to go. WHAT AN ABSOLUTELY WASTE OF OUR MONEY. It seems that Cadbury Is focused more on profits then customer care. Today I visited a chocolate shop in York that did the same kind of chocolate experience and oh boy what a difference. They could knock the spots off of Cadbury world. So Cadbury world if you care about your customers visit this shop and learn some lessons. Collapse

The chocolate side of the experience is good, but whatever you do don’t waste your money on the substandard food they’re serving in the outside area. Very expensive hot dogs that don’t taste like hot dogs and leave an awful taste in your mouth as with the chicken burgers. Buns that have been microwaved to oblivion-rock hard- and chips that don’t taste like they’ve been anywhere near a spud. TAKE a PACK LUNCH!!! Collapse

This was my third visit. While enjoyable, the attraction is looking tired. Particularly the start of the attraction with old videos explaining the history of Cadbury. 4D cinema and shop is good. Restaurant was average at best. Appears to be divided into a cold/sandwich section and restaurant with table numbers. On buying sandwiches for the family, my wife was told she needed to queue at the hot food section. This was fine and she queued again but when attempting to purchase a baked potato, she was advised she had to have a table number. As rest of family were already seated in cold food/sandwich section, she couldn’t have her order as the area serving cold food does not have table numbers. Perhaps all tables should have numbers? We cannot be the first family to require hot and cold choices. Annoying at best. Collapse

My family was visiting my sister who was attending university in the area. We were only in the city for a few days and I remember having fun there when I visited several years ago with a friend so I suggested we go. It wasn’t how I remembered. Part of it was the timing- the week after Easter they (understandably) have an event for kids so the place was overrun with young children and their families. They offered a cream tea we wanted to attend but it was with characters for the holiday so we opted out of that instead. They changed a lot about the exhibits/ demonstrations. Some were interesting- you can now try cooling chocolate like the original factory workers- but they now use squeeze bottles to write in chocolate; I wish they still offered the piping bags for adults who would like to try. Lastly, there’s a creepy ride through Willy Wonka’s nightmare with dancing cocoa beans and buff cactus plants. Definitely for young children only. A nice bonus- lots of chocolate samples! Collapse
