Just to say that the service, staff & music were excellent. Our waitress was first class and the whole experience was very enjoyable. We were a party of 6 and this was far the best one we have been on.

The jazz band was very good. Nice to see London from a different view. You can get up on top of the boat in between courses. Good place to take photos. I would highly recommend it. Collapse

The ambience was good. The staff was very friendly and the food was fantastic. The live music makes the dinner even more romantic.

I don't like writing bad reviews. I try to see the best in every restaurant, attraction, etc. But it cannot be denied that Bateaux London was not a pleasant experience from start to finish. When I initially booked, the ticket which was sent to me had the wrong name on it. Not a major issue, but a sign of things to come. We arrived at the pier and saw a sign saying 'please check in at reception'. However we were soon intercepted by a polite lady who told us instead to sit on the side and wait until her collegue gets round to us. As more and more people arrived they began queuing at reception and those of us who were sat down were forgotten about. The lady came up to us then and told us we better start queuing instead. As soon as we did, another lady at reception shouted to everyone that they should not queue and should instead sit down. I have no issue with being served last (from what I understand the tables are pre-allocated anyway) but it was this lack of communication which bothered me. We were also told that we would be sailing on the Symphony, which is a fancier glass boat. However when we got there we were actually on a different boat (Harmony) and there was no explanation given as to why. We were sat at a table which was furthest away from the window, which is not a complaint (someone has to sit there!) but something to bear in mind when booking - you may not have the lovely views promised unless you pay extra for a guaranteed window seat. We were allowed to go up on deck in between courses then so we did get a few nice photos throughout the experience. Our drinks orders were taken promptly by a polite waitress, but she did take our menus away before we had a chance to look at them. It's a set menu so not a big deal, but would have been nice to check what we were having. Also, I was having a vegan menu and there was no mention made of what I would be eating - I guess it's fine if you like surprises? For the coffee and tea served at the end there was no dairy-free milk option - again something to bear in mind if you are allergic or on a vegan diet. The wait staff seemed to be serving both sides of the boat and they were under a lot of strain, so my complaint is not with them. However, when everyone received their artisan breads to begin we sat there waiting for ours for half an hour...which we never received. I enquired about this once we received our first course and was told that the bread was £3 extra and we hadn't paid for it. Firstly, it seems strange that every other table apart from ours had paid for this bread and also, we were never offered the option so I would love to know when everyone else ordered - at reception? On the table? At the time of booking? The meal was nice. No complaints about the food itself. And the music was pleasant (easy listening jazz). The toilets are clean and well presented, but only 2 out of the 4 were in use so there were big queues for the ladies. We did feel that from start to finish we were not looked after properly, and we didn't receive the great service that Bateaux London markets itself on. What made this more apparent was that there was a group of 8 women who made a complaint in the first 30 seconds of the cruise (about something absolutely trivial) and then were waited on hand and foot by the manager himself, and received several free bottles of wine, bread, etc. They were treated like royalty throughout the experience because they moaned about something - if this is the only way that Bateaux London looks after its customers then no wonder people make silly complaints. People like us, meanwhile, who were curteous and friendly the whole time received sub-par service. I will not be returning. What a shame. Collapse

Finished off a busy sightseeing London weekend with a Thames cruise. This was an extremely popular trip but to guarantee a window table you have to pay extra. We were the 3rd row in from the window but were still fairly close & were next to the stairs at the stairs at the front of the boat. Everything was great. An easy check in & prompt boarding & taken direct to the table & introduced by the waiter who served us throughout. The food was very nicely presented & portions good. There's a full bar too. This is a good way to have a relaxing lunch whilst taking in all the sights. A jazz band trio played virtually throughout the cruise. Overall a great experience & a good way to finish off the weekend. Collapse
