We had two days here at Alton Towers and had early entry both days as we stayed in Alton Towers accomodation. The early entry enabled us to go straight onto the Wickerman, which was great; but as our two are 8 and 9 they were too old for CBeebiesland and too scared to go on Oblivion. We did manage to get on Th13teen as soon as it was 10 o'clock though, which enabled us to go on Th13teen with our 8 year old son three times in a row. However, I do think more rides should be open for a variety of ages (for the early passes). The rain last weekend let the experience down a little, but the grounds are stunning and it doesn't take too long to get to each ride. ▪Wickerman was excellent. ▪Sonic Spinball was enjoyed more by us adults than the kids. This ride also had the longest waiting time at 55mins. ▪The Runaway minetrain was also good, but the younger ones enjoyed it more. ▪As we were already soaking wet, we went on the Rapids which were brilliant. ▪My 8 year old son loved Th13teen; its a great ride. ▪We enjoyed a short ride on the sky ride. ▪My husband went on Oblivion, The Smiler and Rita and he thought they were good. ▪We experienced Hex which was pretty cool but our kids didn't like it. All in all; there was a ride for everyone, but one day probably would have been enough at the park. One major downside for us though... SECURITY... I also wasn't overally impressed with the security measures on entering the Park. They check in your bags but thats it. In Disneyland you physically have to go through a detection scanning whilst your bag goes through a scanning conveyor belt. Anyone could be carrying a weapon on them... Collapse

Arrived at 10am was looking forward to a fun filled day despite the rain. However The Smiler was closed all day as it had broken. Nemesis didn’t open till 3.30pm could only get on it once. Went to go on HEX at 3.55pm to be told the park was closing. Die to the rain the queues were only 15 mins long which was good. Park shut at 4pm which when you’ve driven 2 hours to get there wasn’t ideal. The pizza restaurant for unlimited pizza and soft drinks £14 per person had already paid £7 for unlimited soft drinks with the refillable bottles. So basically paid £14 for 3 slices of pizza. RIP OFF Was told we could come back free if we validated our tickets so waited at ticket office but still didn’t understand what the guy was saying. So not sure if you just bring back original tickets or do something online wasn’t helpful at all A rainy disappointing EXPENSIVE day out that ended 2 hours earlier than expected wouldn’t mind but it had stopped raining when it closed Collapse

I went during the Easter holiday break with my 2 teenaged brothers, and we invested £300 into the platinum fastpass and asa result we got on 21 rides inc smiler 4 times, oblivion and nemesis (front row) twice as well as many others. The park was incredibly busy but loading onto and off carts seemed good and fairly efficient. Which was great considering how busy it was (queues for wicket man and smiler hit 75 mins) I’ve never been to this park before but I love sit the rides are thrilling and there is something there for everyone. But would definitely recommend for thrill seekers. A quick bit of advice is that it’s probably quicker to walk in them to queue for the monorail, then for newcomers also adds a sense of mystery to what the park. Secondly if you’re not crazy and are not going to buy a fastpass go clockwise and in the opposite direction of the smiler to hit 13, Rita, Galactica and nemesis before everyone else does! Either way I’d highly recommend this thrilling park! Collapse

Loved our trip to Alton Towers, really enjoyed the Tower and gardens too. First time visiting and definitely won't be our last! Went on 5/6 big rides, were there for around 5 hours. We went today (Monday) and maximum queue time was about 30 mins.

I thought I would write this as I did the same when I went to blackpool pleasure beach and it seemed to help hundreds of people which I didn’t expect. I couldn’t find a lot on here about this topic when I had a look so if this helps anyone then it’s done it’s job. Rides i went on Rita Wicker man Nemisis Smiler Oblivion Lazy river Thirteen I’m a size 22/24 , weight carried mainly on my tummy and hips, and 5”7 and got on all of these no problems. The oblivion was tight around my chest, but it went on ok. I never got on AIR the harness wouldn’t close over my chest , weirdly rAther than my tummy. Looked pretty rubbish anyway as the VRs were broken so it was no huge heartache more a cringe moment. But all in all a great day, highly recommend, and this shouldn’t be a reason to stress on such a good day out. clocked up 21000 steps as well which is always a bonus.
