About Mary Poppins
Based on the stories by P. L. Travers and the 1964 film of the same name, Mary Poppins makes a magical return to London this winter. Produced by Disney and Cameron Mackintosh, the family musical is set to reopen at the Prince Edward Theatre this October – 15 years after it first premiered on the West End. Starring Zizi Strallen and Charlie Stemp, expect heart-warming entertainment and nostalgic songs from your childhood. Extra points if you remember all the words to Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!
The year is 1910 in Edwardian London. Mischievous siblings Jane and Michael are in need of a new nanny, while their Suffragette mother and banker father work. The children write a letter advertising for the position, which their strict father swiftly throws away for being ridiculous. When the wind changes, who should arrive on their doorstep but Mary Poppins – fitting the exact description Jane and Michael had asked for. Through song, magic, and a cheery disposition, Mary Poppins changes the family’s life forever. Turns out, it’s not just the children she saves…
