The Lehman Trilogy Theatre Show Information

With its big-name director and all-star cast, The Lehman Trilogy looks set to be one of the biggest plays to hit the West End in 2019.

About The Lehman Trilogy

Following a sold-out run at the National Theatre, the NT and Neal Street Productions' critically acclaimed The Lehman Trilogy will transfer to the Piccadilly Theatre in May 2019.

The story of a family and a company that changed the world, told in three parts on a single evening. Sam Mendes directs Simon Russell Beale, Adam Godley and Ben Miles who play the Lehman Brothers, their sons and grandsons.

The Story

On a cold September morning in 1844 a young man from Bavaria stands on a New York dockside. Dreaming of a new life in the new world. He is joined by his two brothers and an American epic begins. 163 years later, the firm they establish, Lehman Brothers, spectacularly collapses into bankruptcy and triggers the largest financial crisis in history.

History of The Lehman Trilogy

Sam Mendes (Skyfall, King Lear) returned to the National Theatre to direct Ben Power's English version of Stefano Massini's vast and poetic play, a hit across Europe. The Lehman Trilogy made its UK debut in July 2018 at the Lyttelton Theatre; receiving widespread critical acclaim. With a cast of just three actors who play the three original Lehman brothers as well as their descendants, the play is original and challenging in its staging as well as its set design.
