About Fiddler on the Roof
Tony and Olivier award-winning director Trevor Nunn's revival of the classic Broadway musical Fiddler on the Roof transfers to the West End for a strictly limited run in 2019.
Direct from its sold-out run at the Menier Chocolate Factory, Fiddler on the Roof runs from 21st March to 15th June 2019 at the Playhouse Theatre.
Andy Nyman stars as Tevye, the village milkman who struggles to maintain his faith and traditions while also trying to find matches for his strong-willed daughters. He is joined by Four-time Tony Award nominee Judy Kuhn who plays his Tevye’s wife Golde.
Fiddler on the Roof boasts one of the most iconic musical theatre scores of all time with classic songs including 'Tradition', 'If I Were a Rich Man' and 'Sunrise, Sunset'. The production also features Jerome Robbins' original Tony award-winning choreography.
Old traditions and young love collide in this joyous and timely celebration of life. Tevye's daughters' unexpected choice of husbands opens his heart to new possibilities, as his close-knit community also feel winds of change blowing through their tiny village.

History of Fiddler on the Roof
Based on a series of short stories about Jewish life in Imperial Russia during the early 20th century, Fiddler on the Roof first opened on Broadway in 1964 and ran for a record-breaking 3,200 performances. The original West End production opened in 1967 and ran for over 2,000 performances and starred Chaim Topol who went on to play Tevye in the 1971 film version. The film became that years highest grossing film and was nominated for 8 Oscars.
Fiddler on the Roof has been revived several times on Broadway, in the West End and has toured the world making it one of the best-loved musicals. The show has won a total of 13 Tony Awards throughout it’s history.
