Come From Away Theatre Show Information

Based on a remarkable true story, Come From Away transfers to the West End in 2019 following a sold-out run on Broadway.

About Come From Away

Come From Away tells the true story of how a small town in Newfoundland was turned upside down when 38 planes were forced to land there in the wake of the 9/11 attacks in 2001.

Although initially wary of their unexpected visitors, the townspeople rally together to look after the passengers resulting in a strong bond forming between them. The show is intended to show the capacity for human kindness in the darkest of times and the triumph of humanity over hate.

The Story

This joyous new musical shares the incredible real-life story of the 7,000 air passengers from all over the world that became grounded in Canada during the wake of 9/11, and the small Newfoundland community that invited these ‘come from aways’ into their lives.

As uneasiness turned into trust and music soared into the night, gratitude grew into friendships and their stories would become a celebration of hope, humanity and unity.

History of Come From Away

Come From Away was previewed in Seattle, Toronto and Washington in 2015 and 2016 before opening on Broadway in 2017. The show was a critical and commercial success in New York, frequently playing to standing room only audiences and being awarded the Tony Award for Best Direction of a Musical as well as receiving nominations in six further categories.
