About 42nd Street
42nd Street is a classic musical following the journey of a talented young lady who is determined to become a star and have her name in lights. 42nd Street is an absolute extravaganza featuring an outstanding soundtrack, with songs including “We’re in the Money”, “Lullaby of Broadway” and of course, “About a Quarter to Nine”. With an astonishing cast of 50+ members, 42nd Street at Drury Lane is due to set the stage alive.
Lulu joins the current cast of 42nd Street to mark her incredible return to the West End after 30 years. As an actress, singer & song-writer, Lulu is certainly not shy of the spotlight after starting her acting career back when she was just 16. Since then, Lulu has worked with icons such as Jimi Hendrix, The Beatles and David Bowie – she has also starred in the West End production of “Guys & Dolls” and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical “Song & Dance”. With Lulu’s incredible career behind her, she joins this five star production, performing the role of Dorothy Brock.
Fresh-faced Peggy Sawyer arrives in New York from small town of Allentown in Pennsylvania in her search to make it big in the city of dreams. Auditioning for 1933’s new Broadway show, Pretty Lady, it doesn’t seem that Peggy is going anywhere fast. After a little encouragement, Peggy Sawyer eventually lands herself a small chorus role, where her journey to stardom begins. When the show’s leading lady gets injured, a new opportunity opens for Peggy. With her undeniable talent, it looks like this could be the big break Peggy has always dreamed of.
