Our overall holiday was very good, but we found the evenings for us to be a little lacking in places to go. Eg. only one cinema, theatre's not always to your taste, pubs- ok. See More  Read more information   Collapse  Hide

We very bravely saw two Shakespeare plays in one day - Antony and Cleopatra as a matinee and Romeo and Juliet in the evening. A Family Get-Together in Stratford-upon-Avon

Stay Date: 06/10/06, a customer from Northamptonshire who stayed at 4* Macdonald Swans Nest Hotel in Stratford-upon-Avon wrote this review.

We met up with the other four members of our family for a birthday celebration. Our hotel was very conveniently situated for the theatre. Only one drawback, it did not have a restaurant. See More  Read more information Fortunately, I rang the hotel and they were able to fix us up in two sister hotels for the two evening meals. The hotel itself was very good and the staff very accommodating. The breakfasts were among the bestwe have had. It was good to have a package that included hotel and theatre tickets. One inconvenience: even though we booked very early, we could not get six seats together. The play - Much Ado aboutNothing - was very good and well suited to the atmosphere in the smaller Swan Theatre. Even one Shakespeare sceptical son was converted. Stratford itself is an excellent venue for a weekend break, avisit we intend to repeat.   Collapse  Hide
