A Royal Hotel

Stay Date: 26/10/15, a customer aged 65+ who stayed at 3* The Royal Hotel & Spa Scarborough (Half Board Offer) in Scarborough wrote this review.

We had a lovely sea view. The room & hotel were clean & comfortable. The food was varied & even my fussy eater husband enjoyed his meals. The hotel was in easy walking distance of town shops, beach, See More  Read more information trains & buses plus North & South cliff walks. Only one miserable member of staff... We've already recommended the hotel to friends & we'd certainly visit again... If there was a down side to theweek, it was the parking. Although parking is free between 6pm & 9am & after 31st October, there should be more 24 hr parking, this would save visitors a worry so they can enjoy a more relaxed holiday.   Collapse  Hide

Scarborough Birthday Stay

Stay Date: 15/09/15, a customer aged 45-64 from Spalding who stayed at 3* Grand Hotel Scarborough in Scarborough wrote this review.

Hotel room was very tired and in need of decoration. Windows (because of being on 4th floor) were very dirty. No WiFi reception in room, so had to go out and stand on the balcony of 'the See More  Read more information circle'. Corridors, lifts and breakfast room also very tired, and corridor outside our room constantly smelt of cigarette smoke. The hotel is in a good location, though, and very useful being next to thefunicular. Lovely views over the same from the breakfast room.   Collapse  Hide

Hotel was in a central location, for the train and bus service. The room was clean and the entertainment was good. The hotel would have been very grand in its time. Lot of money to stay in a run down hotel

Stay Date: 28/08/15, a customer aged 25-44 from Richmond who stayed at 3* The Royal Hotel & Spa Scarborough in Scarborough wrote this review.

Hotel is very run down in need of some updating. Staff were nice but not enough of them. There was only one poor bar man on duty in the hotel bar when there were a lot of people waiting to be See More  Read more information served, but he still managed to keep a smile on his face. Our room was small but clean, but paper peeling off the walls and also the light fitting looked very unsafe! Overall I would not stay here againuntil changes have been made, and would have expected more as it was an expensive stay!   Collapse  Hide

Famous hotel - slightly faded grandeur!

Stay Date: 27/07/15, a customer aged 65+ who stayed at 3* Grand Hotel Scarborough in Scarborough wrote this review.

The Grand is a historic hotel - part of the Scarborough landscape and with an interesting past, though these days it is a 'grand' hotel catering for the masses. This is probably the only way a hotel See More  Read more information like this can keep going - and it does so fairly well. However you need to close your eyes and let the imagination work in order to glimpse the magic of the past. Nowadays the carvery style dining isadequate and efficient - the view from the dining room remains superb. My single room was in the bowels of the hotel where a number of new rooms have been created to increase capacity. It was verysmall (only a little bigger than a train sleeper compartment) though I have to say all the appliances were brand new and high quality. It had no view (which didn't worry me as I like to be out andabout) but was quiet and the bed was comfortable. Parking can be a problem - 'of course, the Victorians would have arrived by horse and carriage' you realise on discovering that this huge hotel has nocar park. You have to find a space in the nearby square/ streets - I was lucky. The hotel has negotiated a good deal with the local council for a reasonably priced all day ticket to display - which isgenerously valid till midday approx. on the next day so you don't have to rush out at 8am on your day of departure to display a new ticket. This is a busy hotel though I never had to wait long to getattention. It is a 19th century building trying to cater for a (very different!) 21st century travelling public - and making a very reasonable job of it. I enjoyed staying here - just look at thatgrand staircase and let the imagination flow!   Collapse  Hide

Awful, rubbish

Stay Date: 17/07/15, a customer aged 45-64 from United Kingdom who stayed at 3* Grand Hotel Scarborough (3 or 4 night Half Board Offer) in Scarborough wrote this review.

Having booked a double room we were allocated a basement room with NO windows. The booking with SuperBreak did NOT mention anywhere that we were being allocated a 'city room' but that is what See More  Read more information SuperBreak apparently booked with the hotel. We complained at the hotel and were finally moved to the Royal Hotel.......no wonder you can offer such good prices - who would live in a box for 4 nights? Notus!   Collapse  Hide
