The hotel didn't match our expectation.Hotel location good. The room was small. The ensuite was small. Draught from windows uncomfortable. No radio and limited television. Standard of furnishing and See More  Read more information decor gets worse as you go up by floor. 3rd floor tired and dull. Poor value for money at £80+. Wouldn't Recommend Hotel

Stay Date: 25/07/11, a customer from Uk who stayed at 2* Clifton Hotel in Scarborough wrote this review.

The hotel was very shabby looking, and the service at breakfast was very poor, also not pleased when being asked to pay extra for a kids breakfast that we thought would be included in the price when See More  Read more information booking a triple room! The sea life centre was good but not very big, I wouldn't have paid the full price to get in, it only took just under 2 hours to see everything.   Collapse  Hide

Short Break In Scarborough

Stay Date: 03/04/12, a customer who stayed at 3* Grand Hotel Scarborough in Scarborough wrote this review.

Disappointed with grand hotel. Room first allocated on top floor needed two lifts and was small with sloping ceilings. Not much happier with substitute room on fifth floor which was small and hot See More  Read more information (in april). Royal Hotel and Spa Scarborough

Stay Date: 01/04/13, a customer aged 45-64 who stayed at 3* The Royal Hotel & Spa Scarborough in Scarborough wrote this review.

We went to Scarborough for a few days away during the school holidays. We were very disappointed with the standard of the hotel accommodation at the Royal Hotel and Spa. The hotel was tired, and See More  Read more information dated. Our room was actually sloping from one side of the room to the other and so was the bed! In fact we had to turn the bed around fully to help improve the angle of the slope and not roll out of bed.The room ceilings and carpets were stained and dirty, windows draughty and there was a 2 inch gap under the door. Wardrobe tilted forward due to the slope meaning that when you opened it, the ironingboard fell out. Although booked a family room for three, only two sets of towels were provided. TV in room continually emitting a loud buzzing noise, which meant that we could not watch anything.Pool area was very shabby and tired with large chunks of the wall missing in certain areas and if that wasnt enough, you are charged extra for use of the pool. This was mostly disappointing and wouldnot rate this above a 2 star (it is supposed to be 3 star). This is not worth the ?168 paid for 2 nights' stay.   Collapse  Hide

Grand Hotel not Grand at all

Stay Date: 09/04/13, a customer aged 45-64 from Coalville who stayed at 3* Grand Hotel Scarborough in Scarborough wrote this review.

The Grand Hotel Scarborough had no heating and no hot water, we had to buy a fan heater to survive the night and left the next morning, a day earlier than planned. The staff kept giving lame excuses See More  Read more information about the time switch etc but this situation has apparently been going on for weeks with a temporary boiler hooked up on the pavement outside. Food basic but edible, first time for me eating in arestaurant with my overcoat on. Won't be visiting any Brittania Inn establishments in the future.   Collapse  Hide

Poor Hotel in Scarborough

Stay Date: 08/04/13, a customer aged 45-64 from Stourbridge who stayed at 3* Grand Hotel Scarborough (3 or 4 night Half Board Offer) in Scarborough wrote this review.

It was sad to see a gracious hotel suffering from underinvestment and neglect. The location was excellent, but our room was tiny, with a faulty main light. We had no heating or hot water because of See More  Read more information a problem with the boiler, and the fire alarm went off twice in error during the night. I slept in all my clothes on a very uncomfortable bed. The buffet restaurant felt rather like a schoolcanteen, and the coffee served in the Empire Suite was a bowl of poor quality instant coffee granules which you made up yourself. Altogether the experience would have been very disappointing, but with thelack of heat and hot water became unacceptable. We enjoyed the area and will visit again.   Collapse  Hide
