Reykjavik Holiday Reviews

Reykjavik Mountains, Reykjavik, Iceland

Reykjavik is the world's most northerly capital. Take in suburban streets and cafes set against a mountain and ocean scenery. Travel further afield to whale watch, see waterfalls, geysers and glaciers. Don't forget to take a dip in one of the thermal pools! Travelling to Reykjavik is easy with flights from various UK airports including London Gatwick, Edinburgh and Manchester. Keflavik International Airport is located approximately 30 miles from Reykjavik and is served by shuttle buses which take passengers into the city in just 45 minutes.

  • The Blue Lagoon is one of the most popular visitor attractions in Iceland. Surrounded by black volcanic rock, the geothermal pool is filled with super-heated water, rich in minerals. The water is usually around 37-39 degrees centigrade, a welcome contrast to the cold, Icelandic air!
  • The Northern Lights also known as Aurora Borealis, are one of the great natural wonders of the world. Take a trip out into the Icelandic countryside to witness a kaleidoscope of colour light up the night sky.
  • The Golden Circle is a tourist route around Southern Iceland taking in some of the most spectacular scenery anywhere in the country. Popular stops include the Thingvellir National Park, Gullfoss waterfall and the Strokkur geyser. Make sure you include a day trip in your itinerary during your stay in Reykjavik. If you want to enjoy all of the key attractions within Iceland, then the Ultimate Iceland Package is perfect!
These are just a few of the highlights you can look forward to during a stay in Reykjavik. You can also take a Whale Watching boat cruise, explore the country's cultural heritage at the National Museum of Iceland and sample local cuisine in Reykjavik's many restaurants and cafe-bars. Check out our Reykjavik travel guide for some inspiration!

Excellent hotel, we stayed at Centerhotel Arnarhvoll, right on the sea front close by the Harpa centre. The location was ideal, close to everything. All the excursions we booked with SuperBreak were See More  Read more information very nice and well organised. Definitely go back to Reykjavik, and this hotel.   Collapse  Hide

Good Reykjavik location

Stay Date: 25/10/17, a customer aged 45-64 who stayed at 3* CenterHotel Midgardur in Reykjavik wrote this review.

The hotel Midgardur is a fantastic modern hotel in an ideal location for the tour busses which stop at bus stop 10 which is just around the corner. The hotel rooms are comfortable with a mini bar See More  Read more information and tea making facilities. The hotel has a small spa & gym which were free to use. A reasonable selection of hot and cold servings were supplied with the complimentary breakfast. The harbour area was a15 min stroll down a main shopping street.   Collapse  Hide

4 days in Iceland

Stay Date: 01/10/16, a customer aged 25-44 who stayed at 4* CenterHotel Thingholt in Reykjavik wrote this review.

The Centerhotel Thingholt was in a great location, right in the centre of town. The hotel had all the amenities we needed and the staff were so friendly and helpful. We had no problem with the See More  Read more information language barrier, which was great as our Icelandic was non-existent and it's not the easiest of languages to pick up! Whilst we were there we did a fantastic Golden Circle Tour. The Blue Lagoon wasalso a great experience, it does get busy, so an earlier booking is recommended, we booked in at 10am and the changing rooms were quiet; however when it came to coming out at 12ish there were queues forthe showers. Sadly we never got to do the Northern Lights as the tour got cancelled both nights due to the weather conditions, I would recommend that you book with a reputable company (like we did)so that if the weather is not great the company will cancel and refund your money. The restaurants in Reykjavik were incredible and some of the best food we've eaten was here, but don't expectanything to come cheap out there, £7 for a portion of chips, £8 for a small beer and around £15 for a glass of wine. We had a very memorable trip and Iceland's beauty is something to behold and treasure.   Collapse  Hide

3 nights in Iceland

Stay Date: 11/02/17, a customer aged 45-64 from Glasgow who stayed at 4* Radisson Blu 1919 Hotel Non Refundable in Reykjavik wrote this review.

Hotels location (Radisson Blu 1919) was in downtown Reykjavik - a great position for restaurants and bars, nearby to museums and the harbour, although building work was taking place nearby. Our room See More  Read more information was on the 5 floor and had a sloping roof with dorma windows made it slightly awkward getting in and out of bed, room was very clean, limited TV channels and a poor signal. Very easy to walk to mainattractions within the town other trips were booked through Reykjavik excursions who pick up from hotel.   Collapse  Hide

Reykjavik - You think you know it....until you visit!

Stay Date: 18/04/13, a customer aged 45-64 from Tranent who stayed at 4* Radisson Blu Saga Hotel Non Refundable in Reykjavik wrote this review.

It was a very surprising short break - the landscape, transfer time, how well and seamless it was from the airport to the hotel. We stayed in the Radisson Blu Saga and it was perfect for our needs. See More  Read more information It has spa facilities, an award winning roof top restaurant which was excellent (pricey) but for a special occasion well worth treating yourself!! The trip to the Blue Lagoon was well worth it, againthe bus collects you from your hotel and takes around 40 mins to get there, once there the experience is second to none!! We will definitely return, but want to time it with a possibility of seeingthe Northern Lights - on this occasion we were out of the season. Yes it can be cold, wet, windy or sunny but all within minutes of each other - don't let that put you off!! I would highly recommend ashort break here!   Collapse  Hide

The hotel was undergoing some renovation and we were warned so OK. The hotel staff were great as were staff everywhere we visited - very friendly people.
