Peak District Holiday Reviews

Stepping Stones, Dovedale

When you're looking to escape the hustle and bustle of urban life, there's few finer places to do it than in our Peak District hotels. Whether you're looking to take up outdoor pursuits, visit the quaint towns and villages of the region or simply to relax and unwind in breath-taking surroundings, this is the place to do it all. Easily accessed via Manchester and Sheffield by road and rail, the peace and tranquillity of the Peak District feels a million miles away from the stresses and strains of city life.

  • Don't miss the striking and distinctive Chatsworth House featured as Pemberley in recent adaptations of Pride and Prejudice, the country house has frequently been voted as the nation's favourite in recent years, and taking in the gorgeous gardens and stunning Baroque architecture can easily take up a whole day.
  • The village of Bakewell is a must-visit for all food-lovers; spend a morning trying all three 'Original' Bakewell Pudding shops in the town and decide which your favourite is - don't confuse them with Bakewell Tarts though, or risk upsetting the locals!
  • Make the most of your hotel in The Peak District and conquer the hills on foot, on the back of a bike or a horse or by doing some of the best rock-climbing in the world; one such site - Thor's Cave - is well worth the visit by any means.

A fabulous choice for your next short break in the country, check out our list of Peak District hotels below.

Palace Hotel Buxton

Stay Date: 23/12/17, a customer aged 65+ who stayed at 4* The Palace Hotel Christmas Break in Buxton wrote this review.

Hotel room was clean, warm and comfortable except for the old sash windows which needed plugging to stop them rattling. Food was buffet and acceptable, but Christmas lunch was disappointing. We all See More  Read more information sat down together, about 200 of us, and were served by students working over Christmas. Soup was ok but the main meal was plated up and served to you. No choice of what you wanted. Veg dried up, notsure what the potato was supposed to be and hardly any gravy. Looking round at plates most of the dinner wasn't eaten. The pudding wasn't much better. Sliced from a big pudding and very little sauceserved with it, needed a lot more to eat it. Leisure facilities were good, location of hotel excellent, lovely area of the country.   Collapse  Hide

Port Shrigley Hall Hotel - Festive Break 2017.

Stay Date: 23/12/17, a customer aged 45-64 who stayed at 4* Shrigley Hall Hotel 4 Night Christmas Break in Pott Shrigley (Peak District) wrote this review.

Hotel overall was good. Friendly and polite staff, good food and good gym. We upgraded to a deluxe room - (slightly larger). The lighting was poor at night though. There is no ceiling light, just See More  Read more information table and picture lights so we struggled to see inside the cupboards/wardrobe at night. There were different restaurant seating times due to the amount of guests at the time. The food was very good, and the waiters polite but the service was very slow at times. On Christmas Eve we were booked on the 8pm seating. We waited 40 minutes for our starter! Waiters also got confused which table orderedwhich food. Didn't finish eating until 9:30pm which is a bit late really. Obviously it was Christmas but I think the kitchen struggled somehow. We would go again but knowing that food takes awhile tobe served we would take our seat 1/2hr earlier next time.   Collapse  Hide
