Peak District Holiday Reviews

Stepping Stones, Dovedale

When you're looking to escape the hustle and bustle of urban life, there's few finer places to do it than in our Peak District hotels. Whether you're looking to take up outdoor pursuits, visit the quaint towns and villages of the region or simply to relax and unwind in breath-taking surroundings, this is the place to do it all. Easily accessed via Manchester and Sheffield by road and rail, the peace and tranquillity of the Peak District feels a million miles away from the stresses and strains of city life.

  • Don't miss the striking and distinctive Chatsworth House featured as Pemberley in recent adaptations of Pride and Prejudice, the country house has frequently been voted as the nation's favourite in recent years, and taking in the gorgeous gardens and stunning Baroque architecture can easily take up a whole day.
  • The village of Bakewell is a must-visit for all food-lovers; spend a morning trying all three 'Original' Bakewell Pudding shops in the town and decide which your favourite is - don't confuse them with Bakewell Tarts though, or risk upsetting the locals!
  • Make the most of your hotel in The Peak District and conquer the hills on foot, on the back of a bike or a horse or by doing some of the best rock-climbing in the world; one such site - Thor's Cave - is well worth the visit by any means.

A fabulous choice for your next short break in the country, check out our list of Peak District hotels below.

Relaxing Weekend Break in Pott Shrigley

Stay Date: 16/04/09, a customer from Lanarkshire who stayed at 4* Shrigley Hall Hotel in Pott Shrigley (Peak District) wrote this review.

The hotel looks stunning and is very suited to Golfing breaks. The Hotel spa is too small and the jacuzzi wasn't working when we were there. Meals at the hotel were OK, staff were brilliant; very See More  Read more information polite & friendly. We ate at the hotel on the first night, was disappointed in the hygiene as I found a small insect in my starter! Also, on 1 morning milk was sour on the table. I think the hotel is inneed of some tlc in certain areas! Location was great for us as we wanted a getaway, only 30mins to Manchester so fine for nights out, but far enough out the city to relax!   Collapse  Hide
