As you dine on well cooked, beautifully presented local produce your eyes feast on spectacular sunsets over the Loch. Comments in the visitorbook show how many visitors make return visits and after several wonderful days we certainly were reluctant to leave the atmosphere of Stonefield and return to the hurly-burly of everyday life. Relaxing Stay near Aberfoyle

Stayed at the Macdonald Forest Hills. Lovely hotel with beautiful gardens surrounding. Idyllic location with loch and forests all around. The facilities were good. My only concern was the pull out bed which was really worn and my children found really uncomfortable. Across from the hotel was an outdoor sports place where you could have fun in the water on the blow up water assault course. There were canoes and pedallos etc to go out on all at reasonable costs. We had not been to Scotland before and noticed this very reasonably priced break. It was a very long way for us and we arrived quite late in the evening. The first thing we noticed was a very See More  Read more information friendly welcome from the receptionist followed by a nice, comfy looking room. It contained all we needed for a short stay. Thurso is a very nice little place, not too much to do there and we found itrather expensive but it is understandable when everywhere is so spread apart. We would recommend this hotel and location to anyone who fancies a quiet time in a beautiful place. Stayed here one night at the end of a touring holiday. The hotel was positioned with lovely views over the loch and was very secluded giving good walks in the grounds. We stayed for 2 nights and enjoyed the hospitality of the staff and the beautiful area. The seafood in the restaurant is top class, all caught locally, dinner and breakfast were efficiently run, and See More  Read more information the panoramic view is the perfect backdrop. Various public rooms are available for guests, library, snooker room, lounge etc, the bar is comfy and opens onto a patio. Question - why oh why is thereno scottish beer stocked? great selection of malts though. Rooms, well some are feeling their age, but i believe some have been revamped. Our room was one of the old ones, still comfortable butprobably not quite 4 star, this did not spoil our stay however. Tarbert is 4 mins away by car, and is a lovely seaside village.
