Women on the Verge for December debut
Date Posted: 13/10/14

The West End will be shining even brighter than usual this December, with the award-winning Broadway musical Women On The Verge Of A Nervous Breakdown set to debut during the upcoming Christmas season.
Star of stage and small screen Tamsin Greig, who is known for hysterical antics in hospital sitcom Green Wing and BBC comedy series Episodes, is to lead the cast when the production goes live at The Playhouse Theatre.
The actress is no stranger to the West End, having previously participated in well-received incarnations of The Little Dog Laughed and Much Ado About Nothing.
She will be joined by fellow veteran of the stage Haydn Gwynne, star of various plays and musicals on London's theatre scene including Billy Elliot, The Audience and Richard III opposite Kevin Spacey.
Women On The Verge Of A Nervous Breakdown is based on Pedro Almodóvar's film of the same name, which portrays women struggling to take control of their own lives in a recently liberated Spain.
A convoluted web is weaved as one of the women attempts to discover why her lover left her, with the show focusing particularly on relationships with the opposite sex and the impact on family members.
The stage reinvention originally hit New York in 2010 and is written by David Yazbek and Jeffrey Lane, the duo behind current West End hit Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. A string of new musical numbers were composed by the pair, including My Crazy Heart, Madrid, The Microphone and Mother’s Day.
Theatre fanatics can snap up tickets to a performance from commencement of previews on December 20th, with the initial run set to last until May 9th 2015. Evening performances will take place Monday to Saturday with 2:30pm matinees on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
