Wicked Extends Into 2015

Hugely popular musical Wicked is once again extending its phenomenally successful West End run, with performances now running into November 2015 as people continue flocking to the Apollo Victoria Theatre.

The show's unique potion of music, magic and drama lifts the lid on what happened in Oz before Dorothy dropped in, exposing the Wizard as an oppressive dictator and demonstrating how one witch became known as good, and the other as wicked.

This latest extension - the 18th - will see that the show stays at its current home until November 7th 2015, with an additional 500,000 tickets going on sale from the start of this week. Wicked is currently the tenth longest-running show in the West End and it shows no signs of stopping.

Showcasing some of the best talent on the West End, the cast currently includes Kerry Ellis, who has returned to her broomstick after being the first British actress to take on the role of Elphaba back in 2006.

She plays the part opposite Savannah Stevenson as Glinda and fellow original London cast member Katie Rowley-Jones as Nessarose, the Wicked Witch of the East. They perform opposite Martyn Ellis (the Wizard), Jeremy Taylor (Fiyero) and Sam Lupton (Boq).

The show features incredible set and costume design that plunges you straight into the world of Oz, while Stephen Schwartz's awe-inspiring score is a joy to behold. The Act One showstopper Defying Gravity has become a household name, having been performed on Glee and elsewhere.

Wicked premiered on Broadway in 2003 and has been performed around the world in several languages including Spanish, Japanese and German. The show has won countless awards and its themes of friendship and standing up for what you believe in are universal.

It is estimated that some six million people have watched the show since it stormed Broadway more than ten years ago.
