Wales sneak home against Ireland as Six Nations gets underway
Date Posted: 06/02/12
Wales pulled off a stunning comeback to beat Ireland in the opening weekend of the Six Nations, with Leigh Halfpenny scoring a last-minute penalty.
The Irish led 10-5 at half-time and looked like they would hold on, until Halfpenny scored in the dying seconds to seal a 23-21 victory.
The tie completed an exciting start to the competition, with France beating Italy 30-12, and England overcoming Scotland 13-6.
It means that after the first round of matches, France lead the Six Nations table from England, with Wales in third position.
A full fixture list is in place next weekend, before the players take a two-week break and return to action on Saturday February 25th.
Those booking London hotels will be able to see England host Wales at Twickenham, with Italy visiting Dublin for their game against Ireland.
On Sunday February 26th Scotland will welcome France to Murrayfield in what will be a keenly-contested tie.
