Visit the John Hansard Gallery in Southampton

The John Hansard Gallery in Southampton will be exhibiting Paper Museums: Moscow Conceptualism in Transit from May 27th to July 19th.
The display represents three generations of artists associated with the Moscow Conceptualism movement. It looks at the work of Soviet artists and how they used periodicals in innovative ways to rebel against the repressive nature of the government.
The exhibition also delves into the Cold War sentimentality and post-Perestroika era and its effect on the artists and work produced.
On show are artworks by over 26 artists produced over a period of many decades. Materials included in the display are interviews, paintings, objects and documentary clips.
The exhibition has been curated by Professor Sarah Wilson and Elizaveta Butakova of the The Courtauld Institute of Art. It is supported by The Courtauld Institute of Art and the Cambridge Courtauld Russian Art Centre.
Take in the politics of this artistic genre while staying at a Southampton hotel.
