Tunbridge Wells Forum the 'best small venue in the UK'
Date Posted: 10/05/12
Music magazine NME has named the Tunbridge Wells Forum as Britain's Best Small Venue, making it a great place to go on short breaks to see your favourite bands.
To celebrate the accolade, Enter Shikari will play an intimate one-off show at the venue on Tuesday, June 5th.
The 250-capacity former public toilet opened its doors to music fans in January 1993 and has nurtured fledgling acts before they went on to become household names with widespread success.
Adele, Stereophonics, Keane, Green Day and Coldplay are just a few of the thousands of the big names that cut their teeth at the Tunbridge Wells Forum.
Next year the venue will be celebrating its 20th anniversary and will no doubt have some exciting events lined up for music fans in the south-east.
The judging panel for the award consisted of singer-songwriter Frank Turner, music promoter Geoff Ellis, Reading and Leeds organiser Melvin Benn, BBC Radio 1's Huw Stephens and three NME employees.
Other notable venues that were fighting for the honour included the Brudenell Social Club in Leeds, the Thekla in Bristol, Stoke's Sugarmill and the Norwich Arts Centre.
