Translations to Begin Sheffield Run in February
Date Posted: 11/12/13
This coming February will see a production of Translations by Brian Friel hit the stage at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield.
The piece, set in 19th century Ireland, will begin its run on the well-respected venue's main stage on February 13th next year, remaining at the theatre until March 8th.
It's one of several plays that make up a Brian Friel Season that Sheffield Theatres is holding.
This version of Translations is a co-production between Rose Theatre Kingston, English Touring Theatre and Sheffield Theatres.
James Grieve is directing the production, and the play involves the story of members of the British army coming to Ireland to translate the names of places into English from Gaelic.
A Talkback session is planned following the performance on February 27th.
Sheffield could be a good choice for short breaks, given that it's home to several performance venues, as well as a whole host of other attractions, such as the Millenium Gallery.
