Tom Conti returns to the stage with a Smash!
Date Posted: 17/02/11
Tom Conti is returning to the stage to star in Smash! at the Menier Chocolate Factory next month.
It opens on Thursday March 31st and highlights the journey of a musical from the page to the stage, taking influence from Jack Rosenthal's own experience of bringing Bar Mitzvah Boy from the TV to theatre.
"Smash! takes a witty, scathing look at the creation of a musical, featuring a cantankerous composer, a fantasist lyricist, a neophyte novelist-turned-playwright, a cocksure director and a bombastic producer," said OfficialLondonTheatre.co.uk.
Conti was last on stage when he entertained those on London theatre breaks in 2006's Jeffrey Bernard is Unwell.
He also picked up a Laurence Olivier Award in 1978 for Whose Life is it Anyway?, and has starred in numerous film and TV shows.
Currently, the Menier Chocolate Factory is showing Ruby Wax – Losing it, in support of Red Nose Day, starring the US comedienne alongside Judith Owen.
