Take part in the AV Festival in Newcastle
Date Posted: 26/02/14
From March 1st to 31st, Newcastle will be playing host to the AV International Festival of Art, Music and Film.
This year’s event will focus on the origins, extraction and global exploitation of raw materials, which played such a large part of the history in North East of England, where mining and steel works were major employers up until the mid 80s.
The event features a music and sound program with a duo sound performance from Akio Suzuki and Aki Onda and concerts from Lee Patterso, John Butcher, and Rhodri Davies. There will also be an animated monument to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the miner’s strike in 1984 and 1985.
As well as the live music there will be various exhibitions, film screenings and commissioned artworks. The festival ends with a major outdoor sound, visual and lighting event by Test Dept.
Enjoy your visit to the festival on a weekend break to the city, staying at one of the great array of Newcastle hotels to choose from.
