Steptoe and Son to move south to Lyric Hammersmith
Date Posted: 05/11/12
The adaptation of British sitcom Steptoe and Son is set to move south from the West Yorkshire Playhouse for a series of dates at the Lyric Hammersmith.
Produced by the Kneehigh Theatre Company, the show has enjoyed rave reviews from theatre-goers up north and will now enjoy a run in London, with those on theatre breaks in the city in for a treat.
Starting from Friday, March 19th, the show is both comical and moving in parts with the adaptation betraying none of the values that made the cult TV show so popular in the '60s and '70s.
Kneehigh’s joint Artistic Director Emma Rice said that she has "tried to enable and reveal the heart-breaking and perfectly observed characters that had generations glued to their TVs for over a decade" as part of her role.
It will play at the venue until Saturday, April 6th with those who live or work in Hammersmith and Fulham able to bag two free tickets to see the show on Tuesday, March 19th.
