Stephen Schwartz's Pippin to be revived by Menier Chocolate Factory
Date Posted: 22/09/11
The Menier Chocolate Factory is reviving the Tony Award-winning musical Pippin later this year.
Those booking London theatre breaks will be able to see Stephen Schwartz's production from Tuesday November 22nd, with tickets available until Saturday February 25th 2012.
It first came to the public's attention when it was staged on Broadway in 1972 and went on to win five Tony prizes in total.
The latest version will be directed by Mitch Sebastian and includes Bob Fosse's original choreography.
Pippin tells the story of the heir to the throne of Charlemagne, who is on the lookout for beauty, glory and fame. However, he has to settle for lust, sex, war, politics and religion.
Casting has yet to be announced for the musical but it has been stated that the revival will be a "high-concept" version.
Opening today (Thursday September 22nd), Terrible Advice makes its world premiere and will run at the Menier Chocolate Factory for a limited eight-week season.
