Stephen Fry to end 17-year absence from the stage
Date Posted: 16/02/12
Fresh from presenting the Bafta Awards last weekend, Stephen Fry has announced his return to the stage to star in a production of Twelfth Night at Shakespeare's Globe theatre.
He will play Malvolio in the revival of a lauded 2002 production of the play, alongside Samuel Barnett and Johnny Flynn. It will run for three weeks, beginning on Saturday, September 22nd.
These days, Fry is better known for his presenting skills on QI and Twitter controversies than he is for acting. He has not performed on stage since walking out of a West End production a few days into its run in 1995 due to personal issues.
Theatre goers should take this opportunity to visit London as Shakespeare's namesake theatre is hosting its Globe to Globe season this year. The event has 37 international companies performing each of Shakespeare's plays in a different language.
Audiences can see everything from Titus Andronicus in Cantonese to Measure for Measure in Russian.
