Soloists announced for Night of Electric Voices

Spring next year will see London's splendid Coliseum Theatre celebrate rock musicals on Broadway and the West End, with a number of international soloists announced earlier today for the star-studded event.

The venue will be visited by musical theatre royalty, with original Rent cast member Adam Pascal due to participate. Pascal's other credits include Rameses in Elton John's Aida and Freddie in Chess.

He will be reunited with the so-called Lady of the West End herself Kerry Ellis, whom he performed opposite during a concert performance of Chess back in 2008. Ellis has recently completed a critically acclaimed return to Wicked at the Apollo Victoria Theatre, a challenge she took on while simultaneously touring the country to promote her new album.

The Night of Electric Voices is a charity event that aims to raise money for the Royal Marsden’s pioneering work in cancer research, diagnosis, treatment and care. It is the sister production of the bi-annual Night of 1000 Voices celebration, which happens at the Royal Albert Hall.

Featured songs will come from acclaimed musicals including Jesus Christ Superstar, We Will Rock You, The Rocky Horror Show, Chess, RENT, Hair, Little Shop of Horrors, Tommy, The Lion King and Spring Awakening. The organisers have also promised several numbers from shows that might not be so well-known, in an effort to raise awareness of smaller shows.

"This evening is a must for all who love musicals. Come along again and join in the fun. Come and support this most splendid charity in the name of Alan Jay Lerner, whilst raising the roof of the London Coliseum," commented Hugh Wooldridge, who devised the evening.

The Night of Electric Voices will take place on March 1st, with tickets starting at £10. The curtain goes up at 8pm.
