Sleeping Beauty at the Royal Opera House
Date Posted: 17/02/14
From February 22nd to April 9th, the Royal Ballet will be putting on a performance of Tchaikovsky’s famous ballet, Sleeping Beauty.
The classic fairytale, originally by the Brother’s Grimm, tells the story of Princess Aurora who has a curse put on her by a wicked fairy. It says that on her sixteenth birthday she will prick her finger on a spinning wheel and die. Aurora’s fairy godmother manages to change the curse to say that she will not die, only sleep for 100 years, until she is woken by true love’s kiss.
The Royal Ballet is a renowned company based at the Royal Opera House, which consists of over 100 dancers and is considered to be one of the best in the world.
Why not make a short break of your trip to the ballet, taking in some of the other nearby sights such as Covent Garden and Trafalgar Square?
