See the Tour de France in Rochdale
Date Posted: 16/06/14
Cycling fans are likely to be heading to the north of the UK at the start of July in the hopes of catching a glimpse of the Tour de France riders as they tackle the British stages of this year’s race.
If you stay in a hotel in Manchester, you won’t have far to go to see the riders flying past, as Stage 2 - which runs from York to Sheffield - passes through Rochdale.
This particular part of the course features a sharp bend, which means all the cyclists will have to slow down, providing fantastic viewing and photography opportunities for fans.
If you want to see the likes of Chris Froome and Alberto Contador as they battle for the coveted Yellow Jersey, head to Blackstone Edge Reservoir on Sunday July 6th.
The local authority is advising any spectators to arrive in plenty of time, as large crowds are expected to gather by the side of the road to watch as the cyclists - and their support teams - pass by.
