See ‘Germany divided’ at the British Museum
Date Posted: 15/04/14
Until August 31st, visitors to the British Museum will be able to see an exhibition exploring how Germany's young artists responded to life on both sides of the Iron Curtain.
Entitled Germany divided: Baselitz and his generation, the exhibition will feature over 90 works by some of the leading names in modern German art.
Gathered from the private collection of Count Christian Duerckheim, it will focuses on six artists – Georg Baselitz, Gerhard Richter, A R Penck, Markus Lüpertz, Blinky Palermo and Sigmar Polke – all of whom migrated from East to West Germany.
All the artists redefined German art in the 1960s and 70s and explored the past on both sides of the wall.
Visit the British Museum and see its other collections during a London hotel break. Other exhibitions currently on at the museum include Vikings: life and legend and Ancient lives, new discoveries.
