Scotland's hotels 'outperforming' other areas of the UK

The number of people booking Edinburgh hotels to enjoy what the city has to offer is just one reason why Scotland's guesthouses are outperforming the rest of the UK.
Figures from PKF revealed that during the past five years revenue per room in Scotland has dropped by just 0.2 per cent, compared with England's total of 2.7 per cent.
The study, titled Hotel Britain 2011, looked at 549 hotels, taking into account more than 92,000 rooms.
Alastair Rae, a spokesperson for PKF, said: "It is clear that Edinburgh's popularity as a tourist destination remains undimmed even though its corporate spending has been diminished with the loss of some of its financial services activity."
He added that a drop of just 0.2 per cent in Scotland over the last five years was "an impressive performance".
Recently, it was revealed that VisitScotland's Days Out iPhone application had been downloaded more than 15,000 times, letting tourists know about attractions and events north of the border.
