Samantha Spiro to star in Chicken Soup with Barley

Samantha Spiro has been named in the cast of Arnold Wesker's Chicken Soup with Barley, which is making its first appearance at the Royal Court this summer in 50 years.
It will be directed by Dominic Cooke and opens for those looking at London theatre breaks on Tuesday June 7th.
It tells the story of an East End Jewish mother who is battling against the state and her husband to keep her family together.
"Bringing Arnold Wesker's play back to the Royal Court after 50 years is an exciting prospect. It vividly captures a loss of political idealism; a feeling which chimes with our own confused times," said Cooke.
He went on to say that he was delighted that Spiro, "who I've admired for many years", will be playing the pivotal role of the matriarch Sarah Khan.
Spiro is an Olivier Award-winning actress for her performance in the Donmar Warehouse's 2000 production of Merrily We Roll Along.
