Royal Shakespeare Company's Matilda extends booking period by eight months
Date Posted: 01/12/11

Theatre-goers have an extra eight months to book London hotels and see hit musical Matilda after it had its booking period extended.
The production is currently running at the Cambridge theatre and will now stay at the venue until Sunday October 21st 2012.
It was originally only booking until Sunday February 12th next year, however, it has received rave reviews since opening in November.
Award-winning actress Sheridan Smith described the production as "incredible" after she went to the opening night, while Hugh Bonneville said that Tim Minchin, who created the music and lyrics, was a "genius".
Charles Spencer, writing for the Daily Telegraph, was also full of praise and commended Bertie Carvel for his portrayal of Miss Trunchbull "who comes on like Richard III in drag, vast of bust, psychotic in her mood swings and much prone to whirling children around in the air by their pigtails".
Alongside Carvel, Paul Kaye takes on the role of Mr Wormwood, Josie Walker plays Mrs Wormwood and Lauren Ward stars as Miss Honey.
