Railfest 2012 to bring 30 record-breaking locomotives to York
Date Posted: 05/01/12

Some of the world's most famous trains will be on show at the National Railway Museum later this year when Railfest 2012 takes place.
Visitors booking York hotels will be able to see 30 record-breaking locomotives at the venue between Saturday June 2nd and Sunday June 10th.
The engines on show include the Mallard, which was the fastest steam locomotive clocking up 126mph, and the newly-refurbished Flying Scotsman.
Railway enthusiasts will be able to take a look inside drivers' cabs while they will also be given the chance to examine some more unusual trains, such as those used to blow leaves or clear snow off the tracks.
The last time Railfest was held was back in 2004 and it attracted more than 60,000 visitors.
Furthermore, the National Railway Museum is also home to a number of other events. These include tours around the facility explaining how a steam engine works and demonstrations of turntables.
