Premier League fixtures give Manchester United a West Bromwich opener

The Premier League fixtures have been revealed for the 2011/12 season, with defending champions Manchester United travelling to West Bromwich Albion on the first weekend.

Sir Alex Ferguson's men will be looking to get off to a good start on Saturday August 13th against Roy Hodgson's side, who impressed many with their free-flowing football last year.

Among the other matches taking place for those booking city breaks to choose from include Liverpool welcoming Sunderland, Manchester City hosting new boys Swansea and Tottenham Hotspur kicking off against Everton.

Fulham welcome Aston Villa, Arsenal travel to Newcastle and QPR take on Bolton Wanderers in some of the other stand out matches.

In the Championship, West Ham United, fresh from their relegation from the Premier League, welcome Cardiff City, Leeds United face a long trip to newly-promoted Southampton while Nottingham Forest are at home to Barnsley.

The Championship season kicks off a week earlier than the top flight, with the opening round of fixtures taking place on Saturday August 6th.
