Passport Backlog Could Mean More Brits Holiday at Home
Date Posted: 12/06/14

There have been warnings that a backlog in processing applications at the UK Passport Office could lead to more people taking last minute breaks in the UK rather than jetting off overseas.
Reports in the media have suggested there are thousands of applications waiting to be processed and, despite assurances from the Passport Office that extra staff have been drafted in to deal with the demand, holidaymakers are concerned that their documents won’t arrive in time.
This could be good news for British destinations, however, as more people may decide to skip their foreign holidays this year and stay at home, taking advantage of all that the UK has to offer.
Destinations like Devon, Cornwall and South Wales have breathtaking beaches that can rival any found on foreign shores, while cities such as Oxford and York are a delight to discover in the sunshine. And with shorter journey times and no flights to contend with, families may discover that holidaying in the UK provides an altogether more relaxing experience.
