Original Star for Billy Elliot Return

Original Star for Billy Elliot Return

When Billy Elliot the Musical swept into the West End, few imagined it would inspire and amaze so many people. Now, almost ten years on, one of the boys who helped bring it to life will make a sensational return to the show, which is playing at the Victoria Palace Theatre.

Aged 12, Liam Mower was the youngest of the trio who shared the role when Billy Elliot first opened. Along with the other boys, he won an Olivier Award for his portrayal of the lead character.

He will sensationally be reunited with fellow original cast member Ann Emery for a one-off performance that will be screened live across the world in selected cinemas.

Now aged 22, Mower will be slipping into the ballet shoes of the older Billy character, who dances with his younger self during a dramatic Swan Lake-inspired scene midway through the second act.

"I still vividly remember the first time I stepped out on to the stage at the Victoria Palace Theatre almost ten years ago; it was terrifying and thrilling all at the same time," recalled Mower.

"I was unbelievably honoured to be asked by [producer] Stephen Daldry to come back and rejoin the cast as older Billy for this special performance," he added.

Mower's theatrical credits since departing Billy Elliot in 2007 have been impressive indeed, with stints in Matthew Bourne's Nutcracker, Play Without Words and Sleeping Beauty under his belt.

The show in question will happen on September 28th, with the curtain going up at 2:30pm.

Billy Elliot is about a little boy who doesn't want to be a boxer and ends up attending dance lessons instead. Through this action, he changes the attitudes of an entire community in this feel-good musical.
