Date Posted: 13/06/12
This year's British Open is to take place at the Royal Lytham & St Annes Golf Club in Lancashire.
Golf fans should book short breaks to the small seaside resort between Sunday, July 15th and Sunday, July 22nd to attend the major event on the global golfing calendar.
The British Open is one of the four major championships in professional golf, the others being the Masters, the US Open and the PGA Championship.
Royal Lytham & St Annes is a par 70 course with a length of 6,509m. It was established in 1886 and has hosted the Open ten times since 1926.
It was last held there in 2001 when American David Duval won with a total score of 274, ten under par.
Golf fans can expect to see the likes of Rory McIlroy, Luke Donald, Lee Westwood and Tiger Woods at this year's competition.
Attendees will also, for the first time since 2006, be allowed to carry mobile phones on them as a number of official smartphone apps have been released. No photography or video recording will be allowed, however.
