Olympic Games will shine a torch on UK tourism
Date Posted: 13/07/11
The UK will benefit from next year's Olympic Games in London, according to an industry expert.
Brian Wisdom, chief executive of People 1st, said that the sporting festival is a "fantastic opportunity" and could encourage people to take more short breaks in the country.
"In the year before the Olympics we are going to have journalists from all over the world writing about the UK's preparations and during the Olympics themselves we are going to be inundated with unaccredited journalists who will be talking about the whole visitor experience and highlighting the UK as a potential holiday destination," he noted.
Mr Wisdom went on to say that recommendation often comes off the back of good experiences, so therefore the Olympics provides an economy-boosting opportunity.
The 2012 Olympic Games are now just over 12 months away, with the opening ceremony taking place on Friday July 27th next year.
