Nuremberg and Lille are two of the top European Christmas markets

Nuremberg and Lille have made a list of the top ten Christmas markets in Europe.
The German destination came out on top in a compilation by the Daily Mirror, with the festivities being described as the "biggest and most famous" in the country.
Those booking Christmas market hotels will be able to enjoy over 200 wooden stalls, while a special set-up especially for children complete with carousels makes Nuremberg an ideal city for families.
Lille was second in the list, with the northern French destination only 80 minutes away from St Pancras on the Eurostar.
Other cities picked out for their Christmas markets were Munich, Vienna, Prague and Dresden.
Danish capital Copenhagen was included in the list, along with Tallinn, Berlin and Budapest.
The UK will also be home to a number of Christmas markets over the coming weeks, with Leeds' opening on Friday November 11th and Birmingham's welcoming people from Thursday November 17th.
