New Marcel Duchamp exhibition opens in London
Date Posted: 14/02/13
Those on cheap weekend breaks to London now have the chance to explore the work and influence of one of the greats of modern art thanks to a new exhibition at the Barbican Centre.
The Bride and the Bachelors: Duchamp with Cage, Cunningham, Rauschenberg and Johns, opens to the public for the first time today (February 14th).
It explores the impact legendary French surrealist artist Marcel Duchamp had on four great modern artists - composer John Cage; dancer and choreographer Merce Cunningham; and visual artists Robert Rauschenberg and Jasper Johns.
Visitors to the unique exhibition will be able to see 25 works by Duchamp, including his famous masterpiece Nude Descending a Staircase (No 2) and more than 30 by Johns and Rauschenberg, as well as music by Cage and live dance performances of Cunningham choreography.
The Bride and the Bachelors runs until June 9th and forms part of the Barbican's longer Dancing around Duchamp season taking place this year.
Tickets can be ordered for £10 online or bought for £12 on the door.
