Museum of Liverpool opens its doors
Date Posted: 19/07/11
Liverpool's new landmark – the Museum of Liverpool – has opened its doors to members of the public today (July 19th).
Located on the historic waterfront, the museum will offer the opportunity for visitors to explore the history of the city – from its heyday as a port connecting the UK with the US, to its thriving music scene.
Those staying in Liverpool hotels will be able to experience the city's famous football rivalry through the Kicking and Screaming film experience or take a musical journey with In the Town Where I Was Born, a show charting the story of The Beatles.
Global City plays host to the East Meets West Exhibition, exploring the relationship between Liverpool and Shanghai, as well as a model of the Empire State Building to symbolise the influence New York architecture had on the city.
National Museums Liverpool chairman Phil Redmond said: "Liverpudlians across the ages have created a city with a host of tales to tell, and that is what the Museum of Liverpool is all about."
