Matilda The Musical transfers to the Cambridge theatre in November
Date Posted: 20/05/11
A musical version of Roald Dahl's Matilda is moving to the West End, with fans of London theatre breaks able to see the Royal Shakespeare Company production at its new home from November.
It will take up residence at the Cambridge theatre from Tuesday November 22nd, with previews from Tuesday October 18th, booking until Sunday February 12th 2012.
The show is directed by Matthew Warchus, with the entire creative team coming together to produce the London version, having worked together at the Courtyard theatre during a 12-week run late last year.
Music and lyrics are by Australian comedian and entertainer Tim Minchin, with Bertie Carvel, Paul Kaye and Josie Walker cast in the main adult roles so far.
"Tim Minchin's music and lyrics sparkle with wit and energy, demonstrating a touch of genius to rival that of the eponymous Matilda. Complemented by Dennis Kelly's book, they make up a piece which is by turns riotously funny and gut-wrenchingly poignant. Jaw-droppingly good," stated Whatsonstage.
