Mark Rylance will be returning to Shakespeare's Globe next year to star in two productions at the venue.
The actor played a key role in the restructuring of the Globe when he was the artistic director for ten years, between 1995 and 2005.
He will now appear in front of those booking London theatre breaks when he plays the title role in Richard III and then stars as Olivia in Twelfth Night.
The productions are part of the venue's summer season, which runs from Thursday June 7th to Sunday October 14th.
Dominic Dromgoole, the current artistic director at the Globe, said: "No-one has contributed more to the success of the Globe than Mark, and we all – actors, artists and audiences – play happily within the conditions he created."
Among the other productions taking part in the 2012 programme at the venue are Henry V, The Taming of the Shrew, Anne Boleyn, Hamlet and As You Like It.
