Manchester City look to seal top spot prior to Europa League last 32 draw
Date Posted: 16/12/10
Manchester City will attempt to confirm their place at the top of Group A in the Europa League tonight, ahead of Friday's draw for the last 32 knockout round.
Roberto Mancini's side will be seeded for the next stage if they beat Juventus in Italy, with Lech Poznan hot on their heels in second place.
A seeded position will ensure that the Blues play the second leg of their last 32 tie in front of those booking Manchester hotels on Thursday February 24th, which could give them a slight advantage.
Liverpool qualified for the same stage in the tournament last night, however, no two sides from the same country can meet until the last 16 round.
The teams qualifying through the Europa League will also be joined by those that finished third in their Champions League groups.
European giants Ajax Amsterdam will join Liverpool and Manchester City in being seeded, while Spartak Moscow, Braga and Twente will also be drawn out of the top bag.
Glasgow Rangers could be opposition for either of the English teams, while Rubin Kazan, Basel and Benfica also drop down from the Champions League.
