The London Olympics 2012 torch is set to go on an 8,000-mile journey next year, with the relay route starting off in Land's End on Saturday May 12th.
During the 70-day relay the torch will be seen by those on weekend breaks in Bristol, Leeds, Liverpool, Belfast, Glasgow, Southampton and Cardiff, among other locations.
The torch is being created by London designers Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby, and it will finish its journey in the Olympic Stadium during the opening ceremony on Friday July 27th.
Locog, the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, said that the route has been designed so that 95 per cent of people are within an hour's travel of seeing the torch.
"I think the thing we have learned from other relays is it's releasing that creativity, the excitement, in people's backyards. I have seen that from relays around the world and I really do want to replicate that," chairman of Locog Lord Sebastian Coe told BBC Breakfast.
It is now 436 days until the Games gets underway in the capital city in July next year.
