London at Christmas Architecture Walk

London at Christmas Architecture Walk

Christmas is casting its spell-binding magic over London and throughout the capital, all sorts of nods to the festive season are cropping up, as the arteries of the metropolis are completely transformed with some of the best street illumination in the world.

Buildings and squares, arcades and shop windows become a blaze of light, making every area a delight to walk down. And that indeed is the main selling point of this immensely popular walk that takes attendees on an enjoyable walk to experience this incredible wonderland.

Organised by young architect Ike Ijeh, this festive event starts from the Nelson's Column side of the immense Trafalgar Square Christmas Tree - incidentally, a gift from Norway each year as thanks to Britain's assistance during the Second World War - and finishes near Bond Street Tube Station.

Along the way, you'll pass through a number of London's most popular shopping streets, including Regent's Street and Carnaby Street, both of which are beautifully dressed up in a multicoloured haze of lights.

Walking enthusiasts will also be treated to a fantastic commentary provided by Ike Ijeh himself on the city's festive celebrations, allowing them to garner a unique perspective on London through the eyes of an architect.

Anyone anxious to experience this tour will need to book ahead as tickets tend to sell out quickly. The walks take place every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday in December from the 6th, excluding Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve. Tickets are priced at £15 for adults and children aged between 0 and ten are welcome to come along for free.

Bear in mind that the tour last approximately two hours and warm clothes are highly recommended at this time of year.
