Liverpool sign up Andy Carroll and Luis Suarez in transfer window frenzy

Liverpool had a busy night as the transfer window slammed shut, selling Fernando Torres to Chelsea in a £50 million British fee record, while also snapping up Andy Carroll and Luis Suarez.
The Anfield club agreed a deal in the region of £35 million with Newcastle United for England frontman Carroll, who has impressed with his direct style so far this season.
After Torres handed in a transfer request, manager Kenny Dalglish acted quickly to secure a new attacking spearhead, while he also tied up the transfer of Uruguayan Suarez for around £23 million from Dutch giants Ajax.
The pair could now be in action against Chelsea on Sunday, while the second leg of their Europa League tie against Sparta Prague, which will be played in front of those booking Liverpool hotels on Thursday February 24th, might be their continental debuts for the Merseyside club.
Referring to the signing of Suarez, Dalglish said: "The ambition of the club is there for all to see. We said when we knew money would be available that we'd do our best to spend it responsibly and I think this is a signing that reflects everything that's beneficial to Liverpool Football Club."
