John Malkovich named in Edinburgh Fringe line-up
Date Posted: 10/06/11
Hollywood star John Malkovich is just one of 21,000 performers taking part in this year's Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
More than 2,500 shows will be staged, making it the world's largest arts festival, with dance group Flawless and comedian Al Murray also taking part.
Malkovich will direct Julian Sands in a play dedicated to the work of Harold Pinter, while stand-up fans staying in Edinburgh hotels will also be able to see Sarah Millican and Ed Byrne.
Running between Friday August 5th and Monday August 29th, the festival will be made up of 37 per cent comedy, 30 per cent theatre and 14 per cent music, with other elements also included.
"The 2011 Edinburgh Festival Fringe programme is bigger than ever. What makes it exciting every year, but particularly this year, is the combination of all these wonderful, creative and talented people who choose to bring their work here," said chief executive of the Festival Fringe Society Kath Mainland.
Last year, the number of ticket sales were up by five per cent on 2009's previous record breaking attendances.
